As a Class I medical device intended to be customized by a qualified clinician, TheraTogs are not available over-the-counter but are available for purchase through a doctor’s prescription to an orthotist or DME (pre-authorization may be required).
Most reimbursement for TheraTogs is provided by state Medicaid programs, Early Intervention programs, or private health insurance companies. Depending on your state, TheraTogs may be classified as a miscellaneous orthotic (with orders placed by O&P Providers) or a miscellaneous medical device (with orders placed through DME (U.S. Providers).

If you are seeking reimbursement or cost coverage for your TheraTogs system, work with your therapist or rehab clinician to make the purchase through an authorized O&P Provider or DME facility (depending on the requirements of the payor agency). TheraTogs are funded or provided by a number of state Medicaid and Early Intervention programs, as well as charities, non-profits, and service organizations. Please contact Sylva Hamilton, our Business Manager, to set up your account. You can reach Sylva at accounts@TheraTogs.com • (970) 239-0098.
Many third-party payors and state Medicaid agencies will pay for TheraTogs if they are requested properly “through the system” as defined by that payor.
In most of those cases, the TheraTogs system must be ordered through an O&P (orthotic and prosthetic) provider or a DME (durable medical equipment) facility by TheraTogs product code. The provider will then submit an insurance funding request that includes a doctor’s prescription plus a firm, persuasive and specific LMN letter that’s been written by the client’s physician or therapist. The funding request must indicate the appropriate HCPCS billing code.
We have Authorized TheraTogs Providers all over the country who are experienced with dispensing and filing reimbursement claims for TheraTogs. Visit our Provider Locator to find the provider closest to your location.
Prescription requirements vary by state and by payor, but your provider of choice will likely know the requirements. If they need more information, have them contact Lee Taylor at firstname.lastname@example.org.

TheraTogs’ Research Partner Program gives caregivers the opportunity to work through a clinician and purchase TheraTogs rehab systems directly from Progressive GaitWays, our research and training partner, on condition of providing anonymous patient and clinical outcomes data.
As an incentive for submitting the follow-up data, Progressive GaitWays offers a 30% rebate on the purchase price when the outcomes data requirements are met. The program collects the data regardless of the nature of the outcomes or findings – good, bad, or inconclusive.
This program, now in its ninth year, has allowed over 1,000 clients to gain improved outcomes from TheraTogs while providing valuable research data used to support reimbursement claims, product design, and additional TheraTogs product development.
The Research Partner Program is only available in the United States. For more information click this link (takes you to the Progressive GaitWays website).
You can buy Replacement Parts for any TheraTogs system by filling in the part selection form and submitting proof-of-purchase. Otherwise, we do not sell individual TheraTogs parts for independent use unrelated to a TheraTogs system.
TheraTogs are FDA-registered as a Class I medical device, and as such must be used under the supervision of a clinician. They can provide significant biomechanical change with long-term effects, and should only be configured by a trained clinician in response to the wearer’s specific needs.
TheraTogs systems are defined and reimbursed in numerous jurisdictions as full orthotic garment systems. Reimbursement is not generally offered for individual parts.
